I just found out from Waterford that the china I wanted for so long is on 'import status' which basically means that I may not be able to get all the pieces I need because they are busy restocking the inventory - the woman on the ohone told me I may have to wait up to 18 months before the entire collection becaomes available again Now I don't know what to do...my mom is buying my china for me so should she buy the pieces she can get now and then after the wedding I'll fill in what she couldn't get or do u girls think I should pick something different where I can get everything now? This is the pattern I've been planning on getting:
personally, i wouldn't buy now and then wait just b/c its too much of a hassle-- what if certain things still are not available? your best option might be to change your china to something else, that is what i would do.
i changed my mind from vera wang to waterford (padova, not yours)-- it was voluntary but still i can understand how that would be sad and a let down. i'm sorry you might have to do that. check out patterns that are similar... HTH

Santina! If you have your heart set on them - and don't want any other plates - then yes, make your mom buy them .... if not, then choose another pattern
Im soo sorry that this happened - and I know EXACTLY how you feel ... I picked out a Mikasa everyday plates that i LOVE - well - they are now discontinued, and when I found out that they were gonna be discontinued - my mom was gonna buy them for me right away - but it was too late ... sooo I picked out another set - but I still love those Mikasa ones .... (sigh)

aww! i see why you are heartbroken!! The pattern is beautiful! I would say if you had your heart set on it, then buy whatever is available now. You figure you will use your china once a year,( if that!!) during the first few years of marriage, so you have some time to wait for all the inventory to make its way to you. I think if you settle on another pattern, you will be daydreaming about this one, so I would wait!

I agree. Maybe ask them for something in writing that they're not actually discontinuing ... I'm not sure if they would actually do this, but it's worth trying.

it def doesnt hurt cuz sometimes the outlets carried either discontinued things or more unique things.......go on a hunt!!! if all else fails then you might have to change it....good luck

Santina..............I adore the china. Don't change your mind about it.
Waterford also has a lifetime replacement program. Look into it. It just means they wont be mass produced anymore. But you may special order and sometimes it may take awhile.
I say take your mom up and let her get them, its sooo beautiful and no other china quite compares to it.

well i went on to the michael c. fina webiste and the china was gone, i went to the waterford website and also didn't see it so i called waterford directly and they gave me the bad news.
Thanks girls for all your advice - I love this pattern too much to give it up so I decided to just get whatever I can now and hopefully get all the missing pieces as soon as they come out. My mom is headed to Michael C. Fina tomorrow to place the order
