Bad Sister. (This is a long one).

Bad Sister. (This is a long one).

Ok, so I have two half sisters... My parents were both married to other people before I was born, each had a daughter, each got divorced, then had me. I am the baby by a lot... My sisters are 14 and 16 years older than me. The one who I share a Mom w/ is my best friend in the world. We are so alike it's pathetic and I cannot even explain how close we are. The one who I share my Dad with is nothing to me. For reasons that are unknown to me, she has aliented herself from my life. She and our Dad went a really long time without talking... She then moved to Texas, and her and our Dad now talk regularly. In the past, I have called her and she has said cr@p like, 'I miss you... let's have a better relationship...' She has four kids... these are my nephews and niece... and I have only met one of them. I haven't gotten together with her in 11 years. Sooo my Dad asked me if I would invite her to the wedding b/c he keeps in touch with her now and she has been keeping in touch with our aunt again... so he felt it would be weird if she wasn't invited. So I did it. I invited her, and knew she wouldn't come b/c of living in Texas and all that... My Dad even gave her my new phone number in Philly and she said she'd call, but she never even called me to say congratulations on my future marriage....nothing. Through my aunt, I learned she is not going to come to the wedding...she mentioned it to my aunt, my aunt told me.... My sister never even had the courtesy to send the response card back. The thing is, is that through the years, I tried to make an effort... she never reciprocated. She now keeps in touch with my Dad and my Aunt, but not me... The only thing I can think of is that she is jealous b/c of how close I am with our Dad and how through the years there has been a lot of problems in their relationship. But.... we are adults, she is 16 yrs. older than me... time to get over it. To be honest, I don't even consider her my sister... she is nothing to me, and I don't feel bad saying it b/c it's not like you get to pick your family.

I'm sorry, no one deserves to be treated like that by anyone. Weddings really show peoples true colors.

That sux! If it's any consolation, at least YOU have taken the high road and made an effort to do the right thing.

Sorry you have to go through that! at least you don't have to interact with her.

if it bothers you enought to contact her to ask her why she is staying so far out of your life, maybe that could help.

Perhaps she cant realate to wedding stuff anymore because of the kids - it a sorry excuse, but you never know!

i'm s sorry you have to deal with this just weeks before your wedding. You have to make the best of the situation and remember it is YOUR day!!! She will come around and if she doesnt it is HER loss. You have done what you could and that makes you a better person

Unfortunately bad sides of people really do come out when a wedding occurs. It happened to me with a few bridesmaids and I haven't even asked one thing of them. It was just odd to me. Sometimes it seems people WANT you to be unhappy rather than feel the happiest you've ever been. Chalk it up to jealousy and rest assured knowing you did the right thing!!! I give you credit for extending the invite. You did your part, too bad if she chooses to ignore it. Her loss.
