I would love to have bag pipers play at the wedding, however don't they usually play outside the church? Well I am getting married at the reception hall. How would I work that out? Would I have them play at cocktail hour? Or play as we are walking down the asile?

Re: bag pipers
My aunt did it and it was a lot of fun. She got married at the Swan club and the bagpipers came in during the reception for like 20 minutes, it was like a mini-show. It was very nice and a lot of people liked it.

Re: bag pipers
My FH is a cop and so is my FFIL and I am having pipes at mine. If you know anyone involved with a police department, you can arrange to have pipes for a small donation.

Re: bag pipers
You can ask him to play as guests are coming from the area where you just got married in and into the cocktail hour area. And then maybe play as you are 'introduced' as husband and wife into the reception part of the day..
ETA: Here's a guy a few brides have used..he is a vendor on this board
He said you make a 'donation' for each bag piper who comes. He also said usually around 6 pipers come, and it is customary to 'donate' anywhere from $50-100 per piper......
I asked him if he was sure...b/c he's famous for mixing up info....and he said that this is what the guys in his precinct/squad said. I am taking that to mean that he hasnt actually booked anything yet. Now I am going to be on his case about getting this done!
Another thing to find out...what about the pipers meals?
