Did anyone have Bagpipes at their wedding? My FMIL offered to pay for a string trio to play at the church but my grandmother also has booked us bagpipes. I am unsure how to coordinate this because we do want both. Maybe I should just use the bagpipers at the reception hall. Or have the bagpipers play at the end of the church ceremony. Anybody have any ideas???

We had bagpipers in front of the church before the ceremony. You cannot hear anything else!
Can you have the string trio play at cocktail hour instead? Then you can have both

I totally wouild do that but the band that we booked has a strolling saxaphone or trumpet player to play during the cocktail hour.
I think that I might have the bagpipers play during the recieving line and for when we come out of the church for the birdseed toss.

My sister had bagpipers come and play at the reception. They played the Hava Negila. It was a big hit. It was funny because we are Irish and her DH is Jewish, so it was great to mix the two traditions.

I love that! I really wanted the bagpipes for FH but he doesn't want to pay that much for 1/2 hr.

We had a bagpipper. We had him play after the Church while people were walking out and waiting for us. It was really nice. Maybe you can have the string in the beginning and the bagpipper at the end?

my friend played the bagpipes for us. we loved it!
this is an easy problem! it is in NO way appropriate for the bagpiper(s) to play INSIDE the church. i would have him pipe as people are walking in and then pipe again at the END of the ceremony as people are walking out.
the string quartet will do the church music.

we had bagpipers at the wedding. They were during the reception. They came in and did a set after the 1st dance. It was in memory of my MIL who passed. It was really nice.

We're having a bagpiper play at the end of the wedding - during the receiving line and when we're walking out. I figure it gives people something to listen to while they wait for us to get out of the church.
So as someone suggested, have the bagpiper play at the end when you're walking out. Meanwhile, the string trio can play the ceremony music.

We actually used a family friend....O gosh my review!! I have to get to that!!! But you will not be disappointed with the Swan club. It was beautiful...fm me if you have any questions!

We had hte NYPD bagpipes at our wedding and they were AMAZING!!! They stole the show, people from other weddings were coming into our room to take pics!

My uncle plays the bagpipes and will be playing outside the church as guests leave.
I would have the softer music inside for the ceremony and the bagpipes outside
