bagpipes at Venue

bagpipes at Venue

Has anyone had bagpipes at their venue? I was surprising my FH with them for the wedding because I knew it would mean a lot to him since he is in the band. But he found out and is now saying he wants them at the venue and not the church.

I've spoken to the members of the band and they would love to perform at the venue but now do I need to tell my venue about it since they won't be coming for dinner but they will probably stay and drink? Do you think the venue would charge me full price of a guest?
I'm thinking about calling the venue and just saying exactly that I am having them for 15 minutes after dinner but they may stay and hang out. Do I need to pay full price?

Anyone know? Or any suggestions?

Thank you!

Great topic because I know my grandfather already got the NYPD bagpipes to come perform as a surprise (but my mom accidentally let it slip.) I would much rather they be at the church outside after the ceremony so I'm trying to push for that but kind of hard if it's supposed to be a surprise! He did it for my aunt 6 years ago but I don't remember many details. How long do they perform for?

Ya i pushed for after the church but FH wants at the venue. They only perform for like 15 minutes. I left an email with my venue coordinator. Hopeful he gets back to me soon.

10-15 isn't so bad. Any longer I feel it's cutting into party time lol

I had one bagpiper, an acquaintance of ours, at the venue while everyone was arriving and he also played with the band for our entrance song which was a Dropkick song. He was amazing and we didn't include him as a vendor for dinner but one of our pregnant friends ended up going on bed rest and couldn't come, so we gave her dinner to him. He played for about 30 minutes while people arrived.

Yes my fiancé plays with the Nassau County Firefighters Pipes and Drums so we are having a few guys from that group come play!

We had bagpipers at the reception. They played for about 10 minutes. We did not count them as vendors, because they didn't stay for dinner. The venue was aware that they were coming, and helped to coordinate. Make sure you also let your band/DJ know! It was fantastic, and a HUGE hit. They stayed to hang out for a bit, no big deal :)

I called our reception hall and they said as long as they aren't staying all night and for dinner we wouldn't have to pay for them! Which is great because now my fiancé wants to have like 10 of them and he plans on playing with them. That will be a great surprise for our guests!
