DH and I want to go away for Christmas break -- we want to do it as cheaply as possible and have a nice vacation.
We found 2 pretty cheap options:
1. a Norwegian Cruiselines cruise that leaves out of South Carolina (we'd drive there) and goes to 3 Islands in the Bahamas as well as Port Canaveral in Florida.
2. The Flamingo Hotel in Can Cun.
Here are our reservations about each: 1. It might be cold on the cruise -- its only 62 degrees in SC, and the average in the bahamas is 72. Has anybody been to the bahamas in december?
2. The Flamingo Hotel is pretty cheap -- has anyone been there? We read pretty mixed reviews, we don't need 5 star accomodations, but don't want to stay at a dump either.
Any thoughts or opinions? TIA!

i would vote the resort in cancun.. even if your resort is ehhh theres still soo much to do there... i agree with you on the temperature concerns.. i think it will be a little cool in the bahamas during december... is the airfare to cancun affordable? fh and i were looking into going on a mini vacation but airfare is outrageous!

We found some weird times where the air was cheaper -- like midnight on 12/30 its really cheap, so we'd go from 12/24-12/29

bahamas might be too cold in December. I'd go with Cancun. Did you look into the Dominican Republic. usually the cheapest vacations and so nice in Punta Cana

I stayed at the flamingo for spring break about 7 yrs ago. From what I remember, the hotel was nice, clean and had a decent pool with swim up bar. Their beach is very small though. We were also not close to downtown, I remember having to take a cab or bus.

We went on a Caribbean cruise last January, and the water was chilly in the Bahamas. I would choose Mexico.

Thank you! How small was the beach? Was it connected with other hotels? I don't really care about downtown being far -- i just want some sunshine and a clean place to stay.
