Cook the pasta - cool it down a little

mix in ricotta cheese, cubed mozzarella (which you can cut up while you wait for the pasta to cook), tomato sauce, and you can also had parmesan cheese if you like it extra cheesy...totally up to you.

bake at 350 for a half hour.

I also add in some parmesan cheese and sprinkle shredded mozzarella on the top.

Sometimes a half hour isn't enough when I make it.

Re: baked ziti recipe

don't cook pasta all the way. Take if off the stove when it's super al dente so that it doesn't over cook in the oven. Buon appetito!

I mix an egg in with the ricotta and then mix everything together. The egg gets cooked when you bake it. I'm not exactly sure what the egg does, but it comes out good!

I believe the egg is supposed to hold the cheese together or something like that

Yes, the egg helps hold the cheese together and keeps it from getting runny/watery...

I also add seasoning to my cheese/egg mixture.. (just some dried italian spices...)

I add cooked ground beef to mine, and sometimes cooked ground sausage too. God forbid FH doesn't have his meat
