it's expensive but Payard in Manhasset (Americana Shopping center) makes wedding cakes. Absolutely delicious!!!

My cake designer is in Belle Harbor, which is not Nassau, but she's worth the trip and every penny - her cakes are works of art! Cynthia Peithman of Cakeline Couture.

spel,

if you do not use the cake form the NRC, do you think they would give you something else, like added food at cocktail hour etc? i am also debating about the cake situation. i dont mind the choices that they give, but i am concerned about how it tastes.

How much are cakes if you have them made elsewhere? I have no clue.

Re: bakery for my wedding cake

thanks, claud! i emailed cynthia & she got back to me right away!

i got one quote, from cakeline, for over $1,000
for a round, stacked, carrot cake, with draped autumn leaves. it seems that cakes go for between $8.00 - $9.50 per slice. if i were getting the vienesse hour, i wouldn't bother, but i'm not so...

needless to say, i'm still looking around!!

i would certainly expect NRC to throw in something else if i'm not using their cake. so far, they have been very flexible & accomodating, so i would expect the same with this situation. i'll give them a call when i make a final decision about the cake (i'll let you know what they say, of course!).

this is from the cakeline website. i like the look of the leaves (the shape is growing on me, i don't want a topper though).

edited to add:
nancy, no i do not think their cakes are ugly at all! its just not what i had in mind. i've been collecting cake pictures for awhile, & it doesn't seem like NRC could make the type of cake that i would like.

stephanie- that cake is absoutely beautiful!! I love the leaves!! If I had the extra $$$ I would probably do it but things are really getting tight so I don't think it would be worth it for us to pay the extra money but I would have loved to have a cake like that!! I am so jealous!
