Re: Baking
I read that you can freeze cookies for up to 3 weeks. Just make sure that they are in a air tight container.Have fun! This is the best kind of day to bake!

You can definitely start baking. I don't think you even need to freeze them - just make sure they're in an airtight container.Have Fun!!!!

Re: Baking
Perfect baking day. Make cookies that you can put in the freezer. They will stay super fresh for Christmas week.

Re: Baking
Bake away! My mom has already done some and she keeps them in a tin and they stay great until x-mas! I hear there is some major snow action going on up in NY! I'm hoping it is getting it out of it's system before 12/19!!

Re: Baking
Ok here we go...this one is really easy. One bowl!Snowballs
Yields 50-54...or 30-34 if you like them big! (although they bake better and crunchier when smaller)
1-12 or 16 oz. bag of hershey kisses
2 Cups unbleached flour
1/2 pound unsalted softened butter
1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts (if you are using canned walnuts, blot them with a paper towel before grinding them to remove excess oils).
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup powdered sugar
Combine flour, butter, walnuts and vanilla in a bowl. With hands work into a dough.
After combined, take one hershey kiss and roll dough around kiss into a ball (about the size of your thumb and index finger when touching.
Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet for about 20 minutes at 375, until golden brown. Check the bottoms for doneness. (The tops will look lighter than they actually are so make sure you check the bottom for the golden color).
Let cool for a few minutes until you can handle them without hurting yourself. They will feel brittle, but don't worry...they are snowballs! Meant to fall apart! Just be careful, and roll them in lots of powdered sugar.
Eat with a napkin!
Edited to add: The Hershey kiss will NOT melt. So don't think you are doing anything wrong. It's very yummy and it's like a little surprise in the middle.

You're welcome ladies. Enjoy them! And don't eat too many, all that butter makes for a lousy fitting.

Re: Baking
let me just clarify why I said to freeze the cookies....I know if I had cookies in the house...especially home made ones...they would not last 'til Christmas!!!

Re: Baking
I LOVE baking Christmas cookies and I just pulled out my recipes this morning. Can I ask a stupid question - how do you freeze the cookies? Do you put them in a Freezer bag? Also, are there certain cookies (or ingredients) that can't be frozen because the freezing will ruin them?Welcome New Vendors
