We're looking at a house in Baldwin on Saturday and I keep getting conflicting reports on the area/schools, etc. Can anyone here give me any info?

It's a very diverse town (ethnically and economically), so you have to remember that when you hear the reports. I don't know much else, except that when I visited the high school, I thought it was nice!

I have two co-workers who used to work in Balwin HS both took substantial pay cuts... one of almost 10K (more than 10% of her salary) and she has a husband who makes less, a mortgage and two kids to take a job in my school. It was a serious financial hardship but she had her life threatened on more than one occassion.
They both told me stories of having to be escorted to her car all of the time and very bad, rampant, gang activity. They both left about 6 years ago so God only knows how bad it is now.
Personally, I don't think I'd feel comfortable driving through certain areas of Baldwin even in the middle of the day and my Dad used to drive through there with us every weekend twenty years ago. It has seriously changed!!
Don't get me wrong, the school we are in now is not filled with angels but my friend said it's paradise compared to Baldwin. Trust me, we have our own notorious ones but it's not as bad.

Heather, I really wouldn't recommend Baldwin. Of course our neighborhood happens to be a neighboring community to Baldwin and I'd feel much better about recommending it. If you and Anthony are looking, FM me or have Anthony talk to Scott, there are some really reasonable deals to be had and I'd be happy to keep an eye out for something or have you guys over so you can get a feel for what the houses are like.
