Bama got to meet his daddy on Saturday!

I took him over to the owner of the stud dog's house so she could help me re-tape his ears. So Bama got to meet his daddy Redford. Here are some pics. The last picture is what he'll look like when we can take the tape off for good. Isn't he a sweetie?

No, his ears are fully healed (we got him with his ears already cropped). They just have to stay taped for a few months until the cartilage is strong enough to support the ears.

Oh ok. Is it painful initially when they do it? He's really cute and looks like he's going to get really big!

Bama was a little skittish because Redford is a big and energetic dog. You can see in picture #2 - he's like, 'yikes! Mommy get me out of here!' I'll have to bring him over for play dates so he gets used to big dogs....

There's a big debate over ear cropping - it's really only done to dogs that are intended for showing, but some people do it anyway just because they like the way it looks. Lots of people say that there's no pain involved because the ears heal fast and there's only a few stitches involved. Other people say that of course there's pain because the ears are cut. But who knows - dogs can't talk! When we got Bama his ears were already healed.
