Bama might be a show dog!
Yesterday I took him over to the owner of his daddy (she's a breeder) so she could look at his ears to see if they're ready, and to also see if he will be able to show. Bama comes from a long line of champions (his daddy Redford is one) but we didn't get him to be a show dog. We just wanted a pet and were lucky to get a really beautiful pup. His breeder chose to keep Bama's brother Riley over Bama because Bama has a light haw which is somewhat of a flaw in the show ring.
Anyway, when Redford's owner saw Bama yesterday, she was thrilled because the last time I took him over there, when he was just shy of 3 months, he was so skittish! She pretty much wrote him off right then and there as a show dog but told us to work on his socialization and see what happens.
So we've socialized Bama a lot and he's like a whole new puppy now! He's so much more confident, and she's so excited about how well he's developing. She wants us to take him to visit her handler next month to see if the handler will show him.
Even if Bama doesn't show, we're going to put him through obedience and agility training because apparently he's super-intelligent and very agile. Yeah Bama!!!!
We can't wait - it'll be so much fun to have him compete either in the show ring or in agility or obedience competitions. We had no idea we were going to get such a super puppy![]()
