Bama pooped in his crate this morning!

Bama pooped in his crate this morning!

I woke up at 4am to the sound of him crying, so I went downstairs to see if he was ok and he had pooped all over the place. So I had to clean it all up (smelled so gross ) and then wipe him down. He didn't want to go back to sleep in the crate so he came upstairs with me and slept on our bed.
At around 6am he jumped off the bed and went downstairs. I told DH to follow him. By the time DH got downstairs, Bama had pooped all over the kitchen floor - diarrhea. He couldn't hold it

I just went home at lunchtime and he was ok, but he didn't poop before I left to come back to work. I hope he can hold out!

I don't know what caused this - he ate that tub of butter on Sunday morning so I don't think it could still be in his system, and he's been fine up until now.
My poor baby......

Definitely sounds like something he ate. No table food until he is back to normal. I have also heard that dogs have weird bathroom schedules when there is alot of snow or rain because they dont want to go out to go to the bathroom.

Hugs to Bama!

What's weird is that I'm VERY careful about how much and what kind of human food I let him eat. I give him just little tastes and that's all. But the past 2 days I haven't fed him anything other than his normal food and his usual treats.
Oh well, I guess he just had an upset tummy for some reason. I want to go home and take care of my little guy!

Be careful about the salt people are putting down on the sidewalk for the ice. Murphy ate a little and threw up on Sunday.

Probably upset belly in regards to something he might have eaten.
From experience, I have learned that the dogs only get feed once a day. We put them on a routine of 4pm feeding time. That way, they poop ~1/2 hour afterwards. Most likely if they have to go again one more time before bed, there is plenty of time for them to do so. I don't feed them in the morning, because we go to work and wouldn't have time to make sure all of them pooped before leaving the house. They would end up meesing in the cage as well. Just some friendly advice. A family member helped us, so wanted to pass it along.

This may sound gross, but you can feed him plain white rice to stiffen up his stool. You can also feed him boiled chicken, it's easier on their stomach, our vet said to do this when tyson gets sick.

Thanks everyone

decbride04 - we still feed him 2 - 3 times a day because he's only 7 months old. If we fed him less than that he'd go bonkers! He circles the food container and whines when he's hungry

Our dogs are adults and they are fed twice a day.

I always break out the rice when they have issues ...

Good luck! Hope Bama is back to himself soon!

I mix boiled chicken and brown rice for molly when she has the poops- it works like a charm.

Well, I came home from work to the wafting smell of poo
Bama not only pooped in his crate, but he threw up too! And he had to lay in it until I got home. My heart just broke when I saw him.....
DH and I just bathed him and I had to throw his blanket in the wash again. DH is going to stay home from work tomorrow and call the vet if Bama gets diarrhea again.

I'll have to remember the chicken and rice trick for the future though! Thanks

I agree...boiled chicken (no fat or skin) and rice reall helps settle Baby's stomach.
