I am fairly new here (I actually haven't posted anything in a while) but I need some band - music- help. FH and I went to a band showcase last night and while they were pretty good they seemed to us to be a typical wedding band. They played all the typical songs and had some cheesy banter between themselves and the crowd. Overall they just weren't our type. This is not the first band we have seen live and so far they all seem to be the same. By this I mean, older - in their 40's to 50's at least, tuxedos, and all playing basically the same music. My question is...are there any young, hip, bands out there? FH and I are younger and love live music, we would like to have a big fun party for our reception. Any band recommendations would be much appreciated

Yeah I noticed that too with a couple of bands that we went to go see. But the band we ended up booking was pretty good. There were two men in the band that were older (like 30-40's) and that was the piano player and the guy that did all various instruments like sax and flute, etc. Other than that, they were all pretty young and VERY energetic. The four main singers were probably like 24 years old and up to about 32ish (2 girls and 2 guys). Then the drummer was pretty young looking-- they were all in great shape, amazing energy and (not that it matters) but really attractive women lol!! haha... and GORGEOUS voices, wow! So we loved them SO much. People at the showcase couldn't help but dance. The name of the band is Heart and Soul and it's Franklin Wayne that owns them. He has other bands. Check out his site. What about Peat Moss and the Fertilizers? That band, The Zoo and another band that you see performing at bars all do weddings as well. Their booking agent assured me they all are dressed formally for a wedding. The price was really reasonable too. FM me if you want info.

I know what you mean. I booked my band after they played at a friends wedding last year, but I have been to a ton of weddings and it seems like all the bands that play are older and play similar music. That is a huge reason we booked Soul Revival. They are all young and the music they play isn't the typical wedding music. FH likes Dave Matthews and they are going to play a few songs by them. I would highly recommend them. They have been great to work with thus far and I know my friend loved them too!!

We have seen a lot of bands and some of them are ....well..... pretty chesey. I have personally been to weddings where the bands dont really play that long.
I would say the things to watch out for are the bands breaks...how many do they take and are the people you saw at the show case the people who are going to play your wedding.

Soul Revival is great. A young, cool group of people. We booked them for our ceremony and CH. I would have liked them for the reception but bc of our backgrounds needed to book an Italian/American band.
Soul Revival is defitiley worth checking out.

My band is Body Heat. They are all differeny ages. I went to the showcase and didnt want to sit down. Any time I asked a vendor about any band reccomendations I was told Body Heat is the best in the business.

i booked code bleu!! none of them are old. they are all extremely talented. great at their instruments, fabulous voices, great range. i would be surprised if any of the members are over 40 - 45 MAX.
although i didnt book them, another band that i saw that i think fits young and hip is The Mystic. they play hudson and mccoy in freeport on thursday nights. great bar band!

We used Code Bleu and I LOVED them . No tuxedos and they aren't ancient. You might also like Franklin Wayne's Vision.
