We finally found a band that my FH loves and we want to book them. We told them we wanted to book them and they would send us a contract and all that. They said they can't put the names of the people in the band that we would be getting for legal reasons but gave us their word we would get the people we saw at the showcase... But We are a little hesitant now.. What are your thoughts?

I think as a precautionary measure, you should always get something in writing. If something were to go wrong, or they went against their word, you can't get you money back or have any grounds to complain, since its not in the contract. However, it would also depend on how solid their reputation is, and if you get a good vibe from them. But in this day in age, its always best to have yourself covered.

They should absolutely be listing the band members by name. My contract listed all members. One of the lead singers left between the time we booked and the wedding and they still would have gotten him if we asked. We ended up going with a singer from another band with the same agency, but they had every intention of honoring the contract.
Always get the names in writing.....even one member being different can change the whole sound of the band!

I had my band list the two main singers because that was the most important aspect for us. It's pretty common for bands to swap out instrument players so it's understandable that they wouldn't want to list them.

Thanks for the advice, I think I'm going to be a little pushy once I get the contract and put a clause in it or something because the singers do definitely make or break the band. I've seen more then one singer from this band and they all sound great. I just feel better knowing who I am getting.

I would push the issue- my band listed the members we saw at the show case. They have to play by contract/ law at our wedding. We made sure this was on all copies because we booked what we saw- not what they may look like down the road. What band/ company if you don't mind me asking? We saw 1 band that was reluctant and I'm curious if it's the same one?

I don't trust that your band will be giving you the people you saw play if their names aren't on the contract. It's industry standard to write the band members' names on the contract. The few I've heard of who don't do this have also had a lot of negative reviews bc they changed out their members for the wedding. I have 2 friends in wedding bands, and they both told me the same thing. They are legally contracted to play at any wedding their name is on the contract, but it also protects the band members, bc if the client is unhappy with their service, they can't blame it on not knowing who was going to be performing for their wedding.
