band and tipping

band and tipping

I am having a 9 person band and they do not require a meal. I do plan on feeding them but they told me I should request 12 meals for the crew also.

Should I be tipping on top of getting them a meal when they do not require it? If so, how much?

I'm confused .... the band themselves doesn't want to eat but wants you to pay for their crew? What does that mean, the people who are loading in the band's stuff? That doesn't make sense to me.

Help me out here!

I have a similar situation. We have a 10 person band including the crew and they said that feeding them is not mandatory but they would prefer if we did. What do we do about tipping? It's expensive as is to feed additional 10 people plus the band is charging us an arm and a leg, refused to negotiate. So I don't knwo what to tell you. We're definitely not tipping the main two guys whose band it is, but i was thinking what about the other band members and the crew....no idea.

I guess they are saying that if we do choose to feed them that we should feed everyone including the crew. I am already paying an arm and a leg for them and I did choose to feed them so I don't know what to do with tipping

If they don't require the meals, then wouldn't it just be cheaper to not feed them, and tip them instead?

Well it seems like they wanted to be fed but it is just not required.

I think that is unfair, to say 'it's not required' but to really want it .... I would rather them say 'yes, it's required' rather than make you guess.....

And why did I think that my band IS the crew??? Is that very silly of me? I am booking my band next week I think (as long as we are happy with the showcase, which I am pretty sure we will be) and never thought to ask them how many people are in the crew and if I need to feed them. I just assumed the band would carry their own things in.

More money I guess. Thank god my RH only charges 2/3 for vendors ....
