Is it just me or are the bands super expensive? We really wanted a band but after getting some quotes it looks like we can't get away with spending less then $6,000 for music! We have a really great deal for a DJ (FH's dad is a videographer) and the DJ we are looking at is amazing but we really wanted a band...
Any suggestions? What is everyone else doing?

I originally wanted a band also but the prices were insane and I honestly couldn't justify paying that for 4 hours. We got an amazing deal with LI Sound and were really happy with what they had to offer so we booked with them!

I wanted a band toobut it's just too costly. So will just be sticking to a DJ which I haven't gotten around to researching yet.

I feel your pain. I looked at bands too but its just not in our budget the cheapest I was able to find was $5,000. I thinkwe are going to go with FM Entertainment for DJ. We wer ereally happy with the private showcase. It was very professional and not overdone. Plus the prices were great.

I prefer DJs over bands so we never looked into a band. But I decided to add a percussionist to give a bit of a live feel to the music, especially Latin music since there will be a lot played at my wedding.

Thanks for all of your feedback!! I think we are gonna go with In The Mood DJ because we use them all the time and they are so great to us. But I will look into GCF, thanks mart81!!

Check out HI-DEF, they are a LIW preferred vendor and are decently priced, not crazy expensive. They are AWESOME, my guests absolutely loved them! They were energetic, professional, so talented and they played music for every one! They really had the party going!!

We booked with Bravura. They have DJ/band combos and customizable packages. Very excited!

We're using one of the Franklin Wayne bands. They were reasonable for a band- having a band was on our must-have list. Frank has been very nice to deal with.
Full disclosure- I really do LIKE the band we chose, but the main reason I insisted on them was that Frank Wayne is a house vendor, which means their meals are free. I'm allowed to cheap out SOMEWHERE, no???

Thank you ladies, GCF is VERY reasonably priced and i have a few emails out to other bands you suggest =)
larlynn, Franklin Wayne was the one that gave me sticker shock lol we saw Entourage at the Watermill and he wants $6700 for them, which for a band is a decent price but we can't afford that and are looking for a smaller band maybe or cheaper.
I know it's a 'You get what you pay for' kind of thing with a band so we'll have to see what we can find/work out

Not always! We looked at bands that were much higher priced and they weren't better. I think Times Square Orchestra was in the low 5's if I remember correctly and they were good.

I 3rd this, although we were always going for a DJ. The customer service is great and they work hard to fit your budget. I've been to several weddings they've done, all at different venues, and the dance floor was packed EVERY wedding!
