band or DJ

If you had a choice, would you rather be a guest at a wedding with a band or DJ? Please try to give a reason why. Thanks so much, we're having trouble deciding!

Im bias to a band. I love the live entertaniment and the energy they bring. Im sure whatever youdecide will be great though

i prefer a band. each wedding i have gone to with a band i have had a ball. i think the crowd reacts very well to a band. fh disagrees.

however........... we chose a dj since the price differential tends to be very large between the two. but our dj offers a live singer during the dinner portion so we opted to do this as well. best of both worlds i thought and within my price range!

Definitly DJ!! I love hearing the original songs and IMO bands are sooooo loud and never get the songs right. - as far as voices and stuff.
I decided to do a little of both... we have the DJ for the real music and then we added a percussion player and might add a sax player so we get the best of both worlds

I say a band but there is also a greater chance they will butcher a song if they are not good...Has to be a good band...

I love bands!!! I think live entertainment adds a little something extra. DJ's are great too, and less expensive! I think it depends on your budget. Your guests will have a great time at your wedding....band or dj!

band but only if they are good. although i've seen bad dj's too. i just think a band makes the event a little grander.

I prefer a DJ...bands are sometimes too loud and don't get the songs right! JMO.

My vote goes to a band.

ETS: I didn't realize you wanted a reason. Anyway, I cose a band because I think there's a level of excitement and intimacy with a band. A live performance gives the room energy that prerecorded music just can't. JMO

I prefer a DJ. THat way you get different styles of music. Also, there are some things that just can't be duplicated well.

Thanks girls! It's so difficult, I originally thought DJ all the way because you hear the original songs, and 1/2 the price of a band, but then I was in a friend's wedding and they had an awesome band so I changed my mind. I think I would like a band that also plays CD's at certain times for like a club mix, but then plays live. Oh God, this is tricky! Anyway thanks again, I appreciate all the feedback!
