I am SO indecisive about getting a band or a DJ for the reception. I saw a band I REALLY liked, but they started at $5,000 and my FH thought that was way too much. Genesis Events is the house vendor for my RH and I heard great things about them, but I keep thinking about the fact that I really want a band. Everyone has told me that a good DJ is just as good as a band, but I'm so unsure! What do you girls think??

I'm using Fusion DL. They're the best of both worlds - a DJ with live performers. What's different though is they go into the song and digitally remove the parts from the song that they're going to replace with live music. So it's not that they're playing over the song or adding an instrument that isn't in the original song.
They're awesome and reasonably priced for all you get. I'm pretty sure they were rated the 'best of' by The Knot too.

I'm leaning towards a DJ with some live elements like steel drums @ cocktail, or a live singer for some songs at dinner.
It's a tough call!

I prefer DJ too, Its more of a party atmosphere, if you want an elegant type lower key atmosphere than a band is better,

I wanted a DJ but my father insisted on having a band.... so I got the BEST band... Original Faze 4!!!!!!!! lol $$$ but soooo worth it if you are gonna have live music you gotta do it right!!!!!!!!!!!!

No prob! Ask for Manny and tell him Jen & Mike recommended you - he's one of the owners, and they are 2 of the people in the group so it's not like they sell you on it then send random people - it's even in the contract. Very important to us!
