I'm having an engagement party this Oct. Its a Halloween Theme party. Anyway so I hired a band that played at my friends brothers engagement party. I heard they were really good, I never actually saw their whole act. The problem is well I'm having cold feet. They play all classic rock. I'm not sure if thats really appro. or if people can dance to it. So I need opinions please. The band is 'Misspent Youth' if anyones heard of them. (they play at the brickhouse) Should I keep the band or hire a DJ? They're the same price $500. TIA

I always prefer DJ over a band...JMO!

If you want people to dance, I would choose a different band or get a DJ.

Sorry, I meant to vote for DJ, rather than band. I like bands for more formal parties....

I say go with the DJ, unless you are totally sure about the band. Why don't you go listen to them a few more times before you decide.

We had a disagreement over this one...I preferred live music and my hubby wanted a DJ..we actually hired a 3 piece band...they had guitar and keyboard and vocalist.....with technical equipment to play other pieces ..everyone loved them..
live music makes it a better party..although listen to few to make sure

i made the same mistake ---- for an engagement party i would do a dj and then save the band for the wedding, although if they arent a 'dancing' kind of band you may want to look at others
