Band prices

Can anyone share how much they are spending on a band for their reception? How many members and how many hours? My reception will be in a small room so I don't need more than 5 members. Thanks.

Re: Band prices

We are using Current Affair.
You can use as many or as few members depending on your budget.
We're paying $4500 for 9 pcs.
2 play at cocktail hour and the entire band plays for the four hour reception.

Re: Band prices

Does $5000 sound like a lot for a string quartet for the 2 hours and then a 5 piece band for 4 hours?

Re: Band prices

I am using Body Heat. An LI Paramount band. They are $7200, I am the fourth person in my family using them so they gave it to us for $6800. I think they are an 8 piece, but I am not sure. They will be playing for 5 hours.

Re: Band prices

We are using Alive N Kickin they are awesome!! They start at $4500 but we added two pieces so we are paying $5100. They are so much fun and if you are interested in seeing them they are playing at the Soco Lounge in Bellmore (right by the train station) on Friday 8/9/02. We will be there we saw them there a few weeks ago and I met other brides who are using them.
PS They go around 10pm.
Good Luck!

Re: Band prices

Mrs May - I think that you have a fair price. We are paying $4000 for our 7 piece band, and $800 for our string quartet to play. Granted - they are two separate vendors doing this in two separate locations, but, I think it's a pretty good price.

Re: Band prices

MsMay - I looked for a long time for a 5 piece band since I was only having about 100 guests. I found that 5 piece bands don't sound right. Im sure there must be some good 5 piece bands out there but I have yet to find one.

We ended up booking a 9 piece band (Timepiece) for $4750

Opera 3000...All I can say is Wonderful! They play all today's music live but it sounds like the CD. We have 10pc...2 girl singers...the rest men at the cost of $6,000.

Pricy but totaly worth it.

Attn: VickiC

Who are you using for your quartet? And how long are they playing for?

I am interested in getting a quartet for the beginning of our reception (cocktail hour + additional hour).

Re: Attn: Susans

Current Affair was AWESOME! We had them at our wedding - they were the best band I've ever seen. They have so much personality and so much class. Everyone raved about them (and still are).

We even had friends who had already booked a band, and were willing to forego the deposit to get Current Affair for their day (unfortunately they were already booked).

You'll be thrilled! I wish I could go to another wedding with them, so I could appreciate all the music. It went so fast!

We had 9 pieces as well - 1 at the cocktail hour. Their prices and flexibility change with how busy they are and what time of year it is. We paid $4800 in April.

Re: Band prices

We used True Blue from Faze 4 in Great Neck. They were a 10-piece band and they were amazing. We got so many compliments.

They were $6000 for the reception. It also included sax and keyboard during the cocktail and keyboard and flute during the ceremony.

Re: Band prices

We used the Times Square Orchestra, 8 pcs, for $4,000. That included music for the cocktail hour. We got a good price because we were an afternoon wedding, and not an evening. It does make a difference.

They were fantastic - we loved them and would highly recommend them!!

Re: Band prices

I guess I'm paying a lot. $6800. for The Next Faze, also part of Faze 4. I also added an additional guy so the the total is actually $7300. I didn't shop around since I saw them at another wedding, loved them and immediately booked them for my wedding. Is anyone else paying this much or was I crazy???

Re: Band prices

We are using Arcadia (LI Paramount), a 7 piece band, and paying just under $5K for cocktail hour and reception music. They play in lots of Scotto Bros. showcases-I'd definitely recommend checking them out.

Re: Band prices

November girl

I'm using Next Faze too! I think I'm crazy too but for paying that much but they were the only band I liked! Is the extra guy your getting an older guy who does alot of Sinatra?
I wanted him too, but we had to pay a travel fee so we were already way over budget plus we are having a small wedding and I thought a 9 piece band was already to much.
