I got a quote for a band to play for the ceremony and cocktail at 1800. it's 6 ppl so i don't think it's that steep. the lead player said it was negotiable. what would you guys do? i kind of feel bad b/c it's only about 300 per player but what would you offer. i was thinking about 1600. do you guys think that's good or too much or would you offer something else or just pay the dude even though things are getting tight since we're a month away?

don't feel bad about trying to negotiate. Offer $1600. The worst they can say is no. And that's still $266 per person in the band (not including any agent fees, if applicable). The bands playing 4+ hours at Mulchay's on a Saturday get that.

Hmmm ...my band is $800 pp and they are a realtively new band, been in business for 5 years or so. Have you seen them play? How long have they been playing weddings? I am not trying to say I'm paying more, blah blah -- I am just a skeptical of the price because when I was looking, the price I found was the cheapest I heard of, and yours is a lot lower - so just make sure you do your research.
