Band/DJ?

I want a DJ, my parents want a band. We've compromised and decided to do a small band and a dj. A few companies we've talked to have packages that combine both (they usually call it something like 'The Best of Both Worlds'), but I haven't seen anything I'm ecstatic about. Usually either the DJ is good and the band is terrible, or visa versa.

Has anyone done anything like this before or seen it done and is there any good companies/combos you can recommend?

I work for a DJ and we work with bands a lot lately.

My answer would be to find them separately if you can't find a 'combo' you like....or do a DJ and add in some 'live' things such as a sax player, pianist, a singer and a percussionist.

We are having a band at our wedding and I am asking someone from my company who is coming to the wedding to set up a small system for dancing later in the evening....

I am having a band only at my wedding but my cousin had a band/dj combo at her wedding last year. The band I am using I actually saw play at my cousins wedding, (and a friends wedding) that's how I found them. They are Soul Revival and we loved them. At my cousin's wedding, they played for about 2-2 1/2 hours and the dj played for 1 1/2 hours. I actually loved the band/dj combo too. What stood out to me most was that the Soul Revival members are all young, not in their 50's like alot of bands that we looked at.
