Depends on the band. A band can be VERY special...love that live feel. But if you're like me and are very particular about how a song is supposed to sound, you might want a DJ. I want only the Beatles to sing their songs- not anyone else.

Dj ...a band can only really play a certain type of music...where a DJ can give you a variety. i'm having a DJ

I vote DJ as well... Like tara said, I like the way the songs sound sang by the original artist

I prefer a DJ b/c they play songs exactly how I love them.....that's not to say that I don't like bands though.
It's also a huge price difference...is that a factor at all?

Because of lurkers I am cautious of what I say.....
DJ: Love DJ's play the music just how it is played all the time, no question the music is played jsut as the artist designed it to be....that is just it....I hear the same music every single day!
BAND: Play music we hear every single day, but with a personal note....could be good or bad.....I am kinda looking for something different than the same old same old...but I am afraid to take the risk on my wedding day.
The music is what makes a reception and if that is bad, there is no turning back! I have talked with some DJ's that have live music/instruments along with the music they play....close to the best of both worlds. I think this is almost harder than the decision on the hall.
Something in me tells me that maybe I just havn't met with the 'one' band/dj like i did when I walked in the RH and just felt like 'this was it!' Do I make sense or am I just a rambling crazy bride to be???? help
pS....We have worked downt he price with some bands so I think it is a little more than we were originally planning to spend, but possibly well worth the money.

I personally booked a DJ b/c a band was so expensive and FH wasn't into bands.
My cousin's wedding was in May and she had an awesome band. FH and I both left there wishing we booked a band BUT it just wasn't affordable for us.
The DJ we booked is Starlight Express.

The one thing that I really wanted was a band. Daybreaks night will be at my wedding. But it is totally up to what you would prefer.

I had a band, they playing non-stop through the reception and they were reasonably priced.

DH wanted a band so we got a band.....I was partial to hearing Elvis Presley actually sing his own song......but I have to say they were beyond AWESOME ! ! Every time someone mentions our wedding they say how great the band was, plus most people don't have bands anymore so it's a different touch nowadays. They were expensive but so worth it.
