We are using Times Square Orchestra They are also a vendor on this board - I have heard only amazing things about them from everyone I have spoken to. Do a search on this board.
In fact I picked an obscure song for our first dance and Mary Ann keeps emailing me saying they are excited to learn it!
I saw a lot of bands most of whom charged a LOT more but were not nearly as good -

what is the usual starting price for a band?

Honestly there is a great variety - when I booked a lot of bands were between 5K and 6K I would say you can find them anywhere from about 4K-and up (the 4K range is harder to find though -most seem 5,500 and up)

We're using NYC Swing. They're absolutely amazing, but expensive. (We're a Thurs. wedding and got a great deal.)
