Bands??
Ok, I think I have my ceremony and reception location booked (they are saving a date for the next week while I decide). I guess the next step is the music. I don't even know where to begin. We're pretty sure we want a band. How did you start your search? Our date is Aug. 8, 2003. I thought I had plenty of time, but from what I have seen on this board, girls have their bands booked over a year in advance. Yikes! help!

Re: Bands??
attend some showcases to hear various bands and djs........bands are a lot of money--double the amount a dj costs---there are a lot of great bands out there--Heart & Soul was excellent--but they cost $5000........Daybreaks night is also supposed to be good.....i suggest you attend a showcase asap and also meet w/some djs for prices and they can also show you some videotapes of their mcs/djs doing weddings------
tommy tunes, spin around sound are excellent djs--their prices start under $2000

Re: Bands??
I booked Times Square Orchestra too! my fh and I REALLY shopped around, too, b/c we are both professional musicians and alot of our guests are very music savvy so it was an important choice! We saw them live and just loved them... even my quiet, serious dad was tapping his foot! all styles, great singers and variety - and the price was significantly better than all the 'top of the line' bands we saw in NYC who were not as good!

I am getting married on the 24th this month. We booked our band on Oct. We booked Creations from Franklin Wayne. Alot of their bands were booked when we went. Good luck. I would start going to showcases. They were one of the funnest parts of planning the wedding.

Re: Bands??
Hmm, I never heard so much about the Times Square Orchestra before I read this post!! Where were you girls when I booked them??Anywhoooo - we used the Times Square Orchestra for our wedding in May. They were absolutely wonderful. We loved them. We still get compliments on them. I would recommend them without reservation. And if I remember correctly, you were thinking of booking the Sans Souci, right? That's where we had our reception and the Times Square Orchestra did a great job with set-up.
