Bands and Flowers for the Vanderbilt Mansion

Bands and Flowers for the Vanderbilt Mansion

Bands and flowers. Flowers and bands. I am beginning the process of looking and listening to bands and beginning to think about flowers and will probably start looking for flower vendors in the near future. A few questions have come to mind and I was wondering what people's experiences have been.

1. How big is your band? Have bands told you that they can work with the space if they have more than 8 members? Where at the Vanderbilt are you thinking of having the band be situated?

2. Which vendors have people been going to? The Vanderbilt provided us with a list of vendors, but I would like to know who else is in the area, which I don't know very well (I grew up in Nassau County and live in NYC).

Thanks in advance for all of your help.

I am not getting married at the Vanderbilt but i was just at a wedding there and band was say you walk in the room and walk towards the bridal suite...the band was in theright side alcove area of the room near the windows/door.

You chose a beautiful place....happy planning.

I know exactly where the band was situated. We have been thinking about putting the band in one of the corners. Possibly up front where you enter into the reception room and taking a table out.

Thank you! I'm trying to have fun planning. It just seems so far off, but I guess it actually isn't :). Good luck with your planning too.

Re: Bands and Flowers for the Vanderbilt Mansion

I got married this past June at the Vanderbilt Mansion.

We had a 7 piece band and we put them in the right hand corner immediately by the entrance to the ballroom. We also did not have tables along the one side of the door/windows to create a bigger dance floor.

If you go to my wedding review, you can see pictures of the set up and vendors I used - I did not use any of the recommended vendors. You will need to scroll through my entire review as I have multiple posts with pictures and vendor reviews.

Good luck with planning.

Thanks for sending the link to your review of your wedding (by the way you looked gorgeous!). This is extremely helpful (there is also another post for a review of the Vanderbilt Mansion posted today so I'll have lots of leads now). I remember reading another review that mentioned Burton's for Flowers, and she was very happy with their flowers as well. The pictures are very helpful. I've been contemplating what type of centerpiece would look best with the room.

I'm so excited for you, the Vanderbilt is gorgeous. We had a dj, he was situated to the right of the door as you walk through the ballroom. Our ceremony / cocktail musicians were awesome. They played in the balcony in the courtyard when our guests first arrived, then moved to the right side of the rear back lawn, then set up a jazz band on the steps of the center hall with the baby grand piano next to it. It was a perfect place bc there was a bar at the other end where people congrugated, while people in the Hunt Room and sitting by the doors to the back lawn could also hear them as well.

Just just reminded me, need to add them to my review:

they are great and very reasonable!

I was married there about 2 months ago and everything was wonderful. I had a 7 piece band and they were set up in the corner next to the door. I eliminated one of the tables along that wall to give them more room.

Here is a link to my PROOFS
and my REVIEW .

If you have any quetsions, FM me.

Was your wedding in the afternoon?

I had an evening wedding that started around 6pm. In June the days are long so we had daylight until 8:30ish. We also took some pictures before the wedding so we have pictures during the day.

Our wedding is starting at 7 pm and will be outside, so I was I am a little concerned about daylight. I went to the US Naval Observatory Astronomical Applications website (http://aa.usno.navy.mil/data/docs/RS_OneDay.html) -yes, I'm a total google geek, and found out sunrise and sunset for my wedding day. According to the website, the sunset will set at 8:00 pm and twilight will end at 8:31 pm. So, I guess the majority of our photos will be during the sun setting.

Hi, I'm getting married there on Sept 4, 2004 and have the same dilemma. I've been hearing bands that have 8-9 pieces and am worried that they are going to be too big for the room. I love reading posts from the other girls who were married there. Have you picked a band yet?
