Bands w/o Showcase

Did anyone book a band without seeing them perform live first?

I did not, and I would advise against doing this if it is at all possible. When you see the band in a showcase you get both a sense of their musical capabilities and of their personalities, which to us was really important since they will be a focal point of the reception. We heard one band that we really liked on DVD, that was raved about, but when we saw them live, we could just tell they wouldn't mesh well with our crowd.

I agree. We booked with Code Bleu. We went to see them twice before we booked. We saw so many but no others were as good as them.

I booked Original phase 4 and they dont showcase. Ive never seen them live but everyone I asked said to book them. It could work the other way around also, Ive seen renegade showcase and I didnt think they were amazing then but then you see them at a wedding and they are amazing, so it could really go any way

I did, but I advise seeing them showcase if at all possible. I saw a couple bands live, but didn't like any of them. We finally went with the one band we really wanted, whose CDs were soooooo much better than the others. We were confident booking them, and I know they'll be awesome.

We are going to watch them film their DVD at the end of this month. I'm so excited to see them live.

I agree with the others - definitely see them live if at all possible. (Do they play any clubs??) It's a risk booking them without seeing them live, but if you love them and have excellent recommendations... then I'd go for it.

We booked out band, highly recommended, when he came to our house with a dvd and we were dancing in the living room..we also had CDs from other bands and they didn't sounds as good..I figured, if you can't sound good on a CD, where it can be remastered, etc...how good can it be live?! JMO
