we are going to each keep our own bank accts that our direct deposit goes into. And we have opened a wedding acct together that we are keeping after the wedding. We also have cd's that both our names are on.

FH an I each have our own separate accounts at separate banks. After our e-party, we opened up a joint account where we put all of the money from the party into. We both contribute to it. Right now, it is acting as hour HM fund

my parents combine ALL of their money so that's what i see as 'normal'

FH wants to maintain our separate accounts.. and both contribute to our current 'wedding' joint account for things to do with the home/our life... but maintain sep. accounts to pay our separate student loans and be able to get gifts for each other without the other person realizing... i feel like this isn't true unison?? but maybe I am living in the past.. any thoughts?

So many of my fiends fight with their FH or husbands about this but it never seemed like that big of a deal to me to keep separate accounts. Am I being naive?

I really have no intention of combing our money. We currently split bills down the middle -- I plan to do that after we are married. I am much more responsible with my money, so I prefer to keep mine in my own account. We do have a join account -- but we rarely use it. Right now I have a small amount of money in there for no other reason than I didnt get to my usual bank that day

We both have our separate accounts but we also have one joint account, and I'm sure we'll keep it that way. I get direct deposit in mine so I don't feel like going through the ordeal of changing everything. lol.

One account! We are on the same page when it comes to finances. We believe that we can function our best if we share accounts. That way we know where all of our $$ is going.

This is how FH and I currently do it. We figured out what the total amount of money we make a month is. Then we figured out how much each of us is individually contributing to that total...it ends up being that I give 25% of it and he gives 75%. We made a monthly budget and decided that we'd each contribute to the joint account the percentage that we contribute to our total amount...then we keep whatever the leftover is in our separate accounts.

I definitely feel like we are in 'true unison'...most of our paychecks go into the joint account. But I make significantly less money than FH and I wouldn't want to buy him a present out of the money in the joint account because then I'd feel like he was buying himself the present.

I use my personal checking account to pay for things like clothes that I want, gifts for FH or friends, mani/pedi, etc etc etc....FH uses his to buy useless gadgets (like a $40 universal remote)...I'd be really peeved if he bought that with joint account funds because I find it incredibly frivolous but this way he can get what he wants, I can get what I want and its never a fight.

HTH!

We plan on keeping our own bank accts that our direct deposit goes into. We have a joint savings account that we both contribute into with our paychecks. I have always heard.you just never know and play it safe..and always have your own money.

We have separate sccounts which our paychecks go into and 1 Joint Savings that we put money in each month

All the money in one place. Once you're married- theres no such thing as mine and your's, its 'our's' (at least thats how my parents did it, thats what i believe).

we each have our own accounts, where our paychecks go and we use that to pay school loans, car loan, cell phone, etc

after we got engaged, we opened up a joint acct and put all of the money from our engagement party there. we are both putting money in that acct and using it to pay for stuff for the wedding.

after the wedding, we will keep our separate accounts and use our joint acct to pay for household things.

This is EXACTLY what we did.

We're going to have our checks going into one joint checking account and then have a separate joint savings account. For me it's easier to pay bills and manage money when it's all in one place.

FH and I have a joint checking and I have a separate savings and checking but currently all the money is being put in our joint account because with all the wedding stuff we need to pay for its just easier than jockeying cash around from one account to another...

Uhhh..simple here. We both have direct deposit into our checking, and have a savings together.
