whats the difference? someone at our venue today said the person we book with is really just out Maitre' D and that we could have her as our Banquet Manager and she'd throw in more free stuff. I'm so confused, i thought they were the same

The Banquet Manager sells you the place and takes care of everything before that day.
The Maitre'D takes care of everything the day of and coordinates with all of the vendors, staff, and time schedules.

At my hall, the banquet manager is the one who works with you before the wedding, helping you pick your menu and also the one who works with you when you are initially booking. The Maitre D is the one who is there facilitating your reception on the day of. He runs the show, makes sure everything is running smoothly. He should be working closely with your bridal attendant.
