I know that there are a lot of tipping posts, but I'm curious to see how much everyone is specifically tipping their banquet managers. I'm not sure if it makes a difference that gratuity is included, since mine is..... Just want to make sure we give a good tip!!
Thanks!!

Wait... I was only thinking about tipping my maitre d' and the bridal attendant the day of. Their tips will probably be a flat fee rather than per person.

Re: Banquet Manager Tipping - POLL
wait a min, im confused. So we are suppose to tip the maitre d and bridal attendant lets say $2 per guest PLUS tip the BM??? Theres a whole lot of tipping going on here, especially with all the money we are all spending.

Exactly. That's what I meant. There's a lot of tipping going on. And I thought tipping was earned, not something we were supposed to do.
I'm paying 18% gratuity. Who gets that?

Re: Banquet Manager Tipping - POLL
In my case, my BM/maitre d is my bridal attendant.... I am paying the 18% grat. as well, but it seems that it is customary to tip on top of that....I already love the service I'm receiving, so I know they'll deserve it, I'm just confused on how much to give....
newnybride & busybee: I read a few posts where girls were tipping both the maitre d/BM & the bridal attendant - maitre d/BM gets the price per head and someone said the bridal attendant gets a flat fee depending on what they're doing for you....not sure if that's correct or not. Thanks for the responses...:)
ETA I think the 18% grat goes to the wait staff....

ok, but on top of the maitre d and the bridal attendant tips, if we have a separate banquet manager, we are suppose to tip them as well???

Re: Banquet Manager Tipping - POLL
ok, just found this from a recent post that someone found on the knot (I think Dita posted this):
Banquet Manager, Maitre d': This is where it's very important to check if you're already paying a service charge. If gratuity is not included in your bill total, figure from $200 to $300 as a tip, depending on the size of your wedding. This amount should go to the person in charge of your reception; if there's more than one person in charge, divide the gratuity among them.
Just a side note: As I mentioned, I have read and heard that people do tip on top of the 18% grat that may be included..... So if you do decide to tip on top of that, maybe you can then divy it up between the BM & maitre d as it says above.....
Hope that helps. :)

Re: Banquet Manager Tipping - POLL
You do NOT tip your BM, they get a commission just for booking the party. If you wanted to giv them something extra I would do a gift, not cash. You are expected to tip the maitre-d and bridal attendant though.

Re: Banquet Manager Tipping - POLL
We decided to tip $300, regardless of the number of people. We had 100, but might have had up to 130.

Re: Banquet Manager Tipping - POLL
Thanks for the responses..... Nferrandi, I know this isn't too common, but if your BM is also your maitre d like in my case, you'd give them a tip, right? I'm assuming so since they're doing so much...
Thanks!

Re: Banquet Manager Tipping - POLL
If they are one and the same and your BM/maitre'd will be running the show the day of your wedding, than yes I would tip them.

Re: Banquet Manager Tipping - POLL
Since BM didn't show up and the maitre D didn't introduce himself or show his face all night. Neither got a tip!
