Me and my FH were just discussing this issue yesterday too! It doesn't really make any sense does it?

this is weird - isn't your baptismal certificate dated from when you were baptized? in that case for me, it was 1979!

Yes, but all of your subsequent sacraments are recorded on the back of your Baptismal Certificate. Your Communion, Reconciliation, Confirmation and any previous Marriage would be recorded on the back. If the Church you are getting married in is not your home parish, they'll use this to verify your Sacraments and to record the marriage so that it's up to date when it is returned to your home parish.

I was told no more than six months in advance BUT when I received mine in the mail it does not have the date it was requested on it anywhere so I do not think it really matters.

Re: Baptisimal Certificate Question
I'm getting married at the church where I received all of my sacraments, so they're looking it up for me. However, when we met with the priest last weekend, we gave him a copy of FH's baptism and confirmation certificates right then and there. He didn't say anything about 6 months and we're not getting married til June 2010.

oh, i get it now. i don't think either me or dh had our subsequent sacraments recorded on the back...i guess every chruch is different. you'd think they'd like to be uniform!
