How soon before the wedding can you request the baptism certificate from original parishes?
Just trying to make a timeline and I wasn't sure....I'd rather get it taken care of and on file as soon as I can, but I'm not sure if it needs to be issued within a certain time frame before the wedding, thoughts?

If I remember correctly, it can not be issued any earlier than 6 months prior to the wedding.

Correct, has to be certified from the original parish within 6 months of the wedding date.

not true..... our church allowed us to get them WAY before the wedding date. Our priest said it was better just to get it over with so it might be a parish to parish thing ask your preist or the rectory.

The deacon told us it has to be within 6 months

I was told 6 months also, but on my paperwork it says it has to be the same year. I think I'll stick with the 6 months.

Ours had told us to get them whenever. As soon as when we booked the church this past April. I guess every parish is different.

MIght be parish specific then... because we wanted to just do it now and get it over with and when we went to book the church 2 weeks ago,t he priest told us NOT to ask now, that we had to wait. And I hadn't heard any diferent from any other brides until now, so I thought that was a rule.

Our parish didn't mention anything about it being within 6 months but I have heard of other people being told this. Maybe it depends on how strict the parish is? I hope it's not a problem because FH and I got ours a while ago to get it out of the way.
