Baptism Invitations...

Did everyone have their invitations ordered/printed or is it ok to buy store bought one's??? Also how far in advance should they be sent out?

I ordered them. But you can do it any way.

Melissa, it is fine to just send out the store bought ones. I used the pre-printed store bought 'generic' invites for Paul's christening. I had just spent a lot of $$$ on his birth announcements, and we had just moved back to NY from CA, so I simply could not deal with ordering special invites. Plus, I just could not for the life of me, get the church's schedule straight, and I kept changing my mind on the date for the christening...so, it just worked out better to write them myself.

You should really give people about 4 weeks notice, but again, since I was so scatter-brained at the time, my guests only got about 3 weeks notice. But, I called everyone to give them a heads-up.

I got paper from Party City with a Christening theme and we printed them on the computer. We invited only close family and close friends and knew they would not want us to spend tons of invites. We had a simple after dinner reception also so formal invites would not have been appropriate for the occasion.
We also got 3-balloon centerpieces for each table at Party City. It cost me under $20 and the kids all took balloons home.

You can do whatever you want for a christening. There are no rules about stuff like that.

I also did the home computer invites. They came out great! I had left over card stock from the wedding. I used the basic wording from versit.com & changed it around a little. Since we'd spent so much $$ on the announcements, the favors & the Christening reception, this was the cheapest way to do it nicely. I couldn't see spending another $100 .

I'll try to scan it & see how it comes out ...

Re: Baptism Invitations...

The only problem with this invite is that we didn't use the word

'Saturday' before the date 'February 7, 2004'

otherwise it was pretty good.
