How early did you have your baptismal info sent to the church you are getting married in? I went to the rectory of the church I was baptized in when I was first engaged and they said it was too early. Our church said to have it sent about 6 months before. So, I went back to the original church and they still said it was too early!!!

Re: Baptismal Information Question
I got mine three months ago. Our wedding is in roughly nine months. FH sent for his in South America and got it that same week! I submitted both to the church with no problem.
Idk why they are telling you this. Is it a catholic church?

Re: Baptismal Information Question
after we booked the priest told me to have it for him 6 months or less and he didn't need it then. They called us beginning of january this year, and we are going in next week to meet with the deacon at the church and he told me to bring along my baptism certificate, and its 4 months before the wedding

we're getting married at St. Patrick's Parish in Bay Shore. I guess each church has it's own rules. I'm sure it will be fine!

Re: Baptismal Information Question
I was told by our deacon to get them no more than 6 months before the wedding. We just got them last week.

Re: Baptismal Information Question
I had to get a baptismal certificate dated within 6 months of the wedding with notations of my other sacraments.

Re: Baptismal Information Question
i just picked up both mine and my FH's baptismal certificate last week and my church said they could not accept the originals, likr from when you were actually baptized...and it must be dasted within 6 months or ess of your wedding date...i thought it would be difficult to obtain, but i was very happy when i called both churches and they knew exactly what i needed and had both ready to be picked up within an hour...HTH

Re: Baptismal Information Question
I had my Certificate from 1990 - but the church wouldn't accept it the reason for it is because the certificate needs to be issued 6 months or less before the weddiing (in a rc church) what happens is - the place where you were baptized is the place where all your forms go back - so when you get married in rc church they send the information to the church you were baptized - and in their books they put you in that you are now married in a catholic church. reason for the 6 month period is that sometimes it might take a church 6 months to report a wedding to the original church --- and this prevents someone from getting married a second time... Hope this makes sense.
