So I am planning a wedding out of state for my friend. The packages do not include open bar. She will be charged for each drink served or she has the option to pay an addional $45 per head for open bar. But many of the people are not big drinkers and there will be kids. So she is doing on consumption.
Anyway, my question: They are going to have beer, wine, and soda included (this is like $25 a head) and then we were thinking of like 2 passed specialty cocktails during cocktail hour, or having jars of cocktails or a punch put out, kinda like a station. which do you think would work out better? We havn't priced the difference yet, so that could end up being a factor.
PS This is why i didn't get married in Maine. Too much math involved!!!

Re: bar question
We did that for our rehearsal dinner. We did wine and beer included and then paid per drink for other drinks. I think having a specialty cocktail would work well. Between beer, wine and a cocktail, people will have enough to choose from IMO.

I agree with this (and you)

Beer & wine is great and if you can swing it, add the specialty cocktail. No need to pay such a high price for full bar.

ya and I think it will be on consumption open bar, but may keep the cost down if there is a specialty cocktail. Do you think its better to have it passed or to do the jars and let people serve themselves?

I think it goes to what kind of event they are having. Obviously it looks more elegant being passed on trays but it could be more efficient if there was a station. If it doesn't cost extra to have it passed I would probably go with that.

i agree. it is more elegant. They are having a rustic/elegant barn type wedding. Think cliche Martha Stewart style. LOL. If we do passed, then they will only be available during the cocktail hour, but I was thinking if we did the jugs/jars, we could ahve them the whole time. I guess I'll just price it all out and tell my friend to choose.

Could they do passed during the cocktail hour and then jugs set up for the dinner?
