Re: BARBADOS anyone?
We loved Barbados. We went two years ago on a spur of the moment type of thing. We did not do any research. We just hopped a plane. We stayed at the Fairmont.
We were so pleasantly surprised. The beaches were great! The food is excellent. Basically, it is a rich island (unlike a lot of islands in the Caribbean). So the food and accommodations are great. There seemed to be a great night life. We really enjoyed ourselves. I highly recommend it.

Re: BARBADOS anyone?
Never been but friends of mine (married couple) swear by Almond Resorts. They go every year and wanted to get married there (ended up in NYC though).
ETA - They stay at the Spa not the Village but from what I'm told you can split time between the two resorts.

Re: BARBADOS anyone?
Barbados is an absolutely gorgeous island! My family, FH, and I all went there this past Dec/Jan for a week and 1/2......its where we got engaged!! The beaches are gorgeous, the weather is beautiful (actually the best weather we've had anywhere we have ever been) and the people are so friendly and warm!!
BUT.....The Almond Beach Resort and Spa was a NIGHTMARE and I absolutely DO NOT recommend it at ALL!!! I won't go into the specifics here, but if you FM me I will give you all and any details you may be looking for!! I definitely recommend Barbados but just not that hotel!!

Re: BARBADOS anyone?
And it is true that there are 2 Almond Beach Resorts the Spa and the Village! The Spa is for adults only and much smaller/quieter (that is where we stayed!) The village is for families and much larger....of the 2 the Village was BETTER! FM me with any ?

I thought Barbados was boring. JMO, but I've enjoyed other vacations A LOT more.
Really? I was just htere for one day, on a cruise & had a great time. Of all the Islands we went to , that one seemed to have the msot thinkgs to do ( through the cruise)
We went on a bike ride from the hills down to the beach. The guides were really firendly .The scenery was beautiful. Then we spent the afternoon walkign aorund Bridgetown. It was crowded & hectic, but we ate in a really ncie retaurant. That was the most urban place we wnt to. They have there own fast food chain that is everywhere, but the other parts of the Island are beautiful.
One side of the Island is on the Caribean Sea & teh otehr part is on the Atlantic Ocean. Is is rocky & the waves a re rough, so peopel surf, but you can't swim. You can swim on the other side.

Re: BARBADOS anyone?
Sandy Lane was the most beautiful and AMAZING hotel I've ever seen in my entire life!! Just going there for dinner made me feel like a celebrity! However to stay there is astronomically ridiculous, but I would definitely suggest having dinner there at least once!!
