Re: Barbados anyone?
I went to Barbados this summer. The island is very safe we took the buses a couple of times because taking a taxi can be expensive after awhile. Haggle the driver because they like inflate the prices. Food was delicious the beaches are beautiful but can be very rough.
Some great tours to do are the The Beauty of Barbados The Catarman Cruise Harbour Lights

barbados is awesome. go there if you can! the sun is uber strong, i think it's the island closest to the equator. so be careful. but the food and people are top notch. also there is a ton of beach glass on the beaches!

Re: Barbados anyone?
My fiance surprised me with a trip to Barbados after he proposed to me!
We stayed at the Crane Resort. Absolutely gorgeous. They have a private beach and it's been voted one of the top 10 beaches of the world. Definitely holds up to the title.
We ate at a restaurant one night, it was a thai place. SO GOOD. We stayed in a suite with a full kitchen. I brought a whole carry on with groceries and the resort also supplies a shuttle that takes you to a grocery store.
We brought our own wine and liquor too. By doing this, we saved a TON of money.
The resort also takes you into Bridgetown for free. It's worth a day trip.
But lounging at the pool and beach was definitely the best way to spend 7 days. TOTAL R&R.
Definitely stay here. OH! And rent a car for a day or two. We explored the whole island this way. We basically just stopped at whatever caught our eye. We got totally lost, but how lost can you get on an island? Beware - they drive on the wrong side of the road. Also make it to Earthworks pottery and buy some pretty pieces as souvenirs.
The island is absolutely BEAUTIFUL.
One warning - there were definitely more kids than we anticipated at the resort. And don't bother getting a room with a private plunge pool. Heard they were freezing - and we were there in July. First floor rooms have a private pool and families with kids are very loud in the mornings right below you in these pools. But that's the only negatives.
