Barcelona / Mediterranean Cruise

Any suggestions for places to stay in Barcelona? Or places to avoid? Which neighborhoods should we be considering? or eliminating?

We will be staying in Barcelona for two nights before our cruise leaves the port.

Thanks in advance!

stay away from Hotel Oasis unless you want a glorified hostel for $200 a night!

it was the cheapest hotel i could find in the city (i wanted to be near the Barceloneta section so I was walking distance from Las Ramblas and the cruise port - we took a cruise also) and it was 'clean-ish' but it was basically a hostel. thank god we got our own bathroom.

Anything off of Las Ramblas is good. Very central location where all the action happens.

We stayed at the Hotel Astoria and it was a great and safe location, it wasn't fancy at all but for the price it was great!

Be really careful with your passports and money, there's a ton of pick pocketers, i bought a little hidden fanny pack and kept it under my clothes, make sure to make copies of your passport and put it in different spots just in case the originals get stolen.

We did the double decker buses which were amazing because you can hop on and off and see the whole city quickly and efficiently!!
