Got home late last night to find my basement flooded with at least 3 inches of water!!! I've been calling up home depots everywhere only to be told they've sold out of pumps.
Anyone else have the same problem? There aren't enough expletives to share how I feel about the rain right now.

Re: basement flooded
We have some water seeping in at the base of our foundation in a few spots. We've got some towels down to help keep it contained .. if we have to, we're armed with kitty litter!!
Seriously .. I'm not sure what you best plan of action would be .. did you try calling Lowes .. Sears .. Ace Hardware .. True Value Hardware???
Maybe even a Rent-A-Center???

Re: basement flooded
Thanks for the suggestions! I called Sears and they will put one aside so FI is going to pick it up later and get it running before I get home from work.

Sorry but I have to laugh at the irony that your name is Mayflower and you're dealing with leaks.....good thing that didn't happen the first go-around with that name or none of us would be sitting here! (Well 1/32 or some tiny # like that of me would, but the rest of me would be in Europe)

A carpet cleaner will suck the water out of the carpet.
(We used one to hold back the flooding in my IL's basement, along with pumps and wet/dry vac's.)

there are heavy duty vacuums you can rent from Sears that will suck up water (and you don't have to worry about ruining your own vacuum).
from experience, i would recommend just tearing up the whole carpet or your parents might end up having to deal with icky mold problems.
