Re: BAT /BAR MITZVAH
I don't do the multiples of 18 thing. When I was young, I thought it was cute to do, but I'm over it lol.
I'm going to a bat mitzvah on Saturday for my dad's cousin's daughter. It's at the Sands in Lido on Saturday at noon. I'm planning to give $150 total for me and FH. For a relative, I think that's plenty, if not too much. If I were going alone, I'd probably give $100.
Then again, the parents are coming to our wedding this summer, so I also feel like we're going to get it back soon. I hope that's not wrong...

I'd give a minimum of $100 per person. If a couple is invited, $200 would be an appropriate gift.

that's about right. multiples of 18 are only done by very religious. secular jews, like myself, give regular going rate pp envelopes

Re: BAT /BAR MITZVAH
i really think that every time you are invited to a catering hall you should cover your plate last weekend i was invited to a first communion at a catering hall and between me and fh we gave 125 it was saturday bruchn so we assumed the plate was no more than 50 pp so we gave 125 just in case

Re: BAT /BAR MITZVAH
Well it all depends on the food. If its kosher its costs more, which means plate costs more. When I went to friends wedding a year ago in crest hollow, gave $150 for 1 person.
