I'd like to know too. I really would like to do this after we close and before we start moving in officially, b/c we only have 1 bathroom.

Re: Bathroom Construction
My mother is just about to get her's done. She has a pretty nice size bathroom. She is getting: New Tub New Toilet New 48' vanity New sink New Granite counter top All new tile on floor. All new tile in bath area All new tile 3ft on walls. New Mirror (no vanity) They are basically gutting the bathroom and putting new sheet rock around.
Everything came out to $9K. From the quotes we got, this was really decent. The best part about it the company actually showed up. Many of them didn't show up for the estimates.
I will let you know how it comes out after she is finished if you want to know.

Re: Bathroom Construction
We gutted one of our bathrooms and actually did the remodeling ourselves, splurging on really nice materials/fixtures/etc, for maybe $4K or so. I don't recommend this approach though-- it ate up waaay too much of our free time on the weekends!!!

Re: Bathroom Construction
We had our bath redone - I'll post an after pic.
We had the sheetrock removed/gutted to the posts We had the floor removed. Our tub is cast iron, therefore it didn't move - they worked around it.
I had new concrete board and sheet rock installed on the walls and ceiling, had a closet trimmed out, put tile in the bath area and on the floor, had a new overhead fan/light and new lighting installed over the mirror, had the existing toilet and vanity and mirror installed (all new within the past 5 years) and it took over 7 days to complete! And it is our only bath in the co-op. It was HORRIBLE. But, we lived and now it's beautiful
Total cost for the contractor, fixtures, tile, etc : $6000

Re: Bathroom Construction
We used Bathfitters and are very happy. They redid our bathtub in 1 day! It costed us about $3,500... I can give you our salesmans' name if you are interested! :) Now all we have to do is the floor, vanity and paint! :)

Re: Bathroom Construction
Hmmm... I think we will consider just retiling the floors and around the bathtub. That's a bit too much for us now; maybe once we get our first tax return

Re: Bathroom Construction
I had my very small bathroom gutted to the stud and completely redone two years ago. I bought the fixtures at Home Depot and had a contractor install it all. He was great. He had it all done in 4 days! I would give you his info but he has since moved to FL
