Any reasons why you prefer one over the other in the Bathroom?

Re: Bathrooms-Wallpaper or Paint
For moisture purposes, I suggest either wallpapering or painting with a glossy paint. My personal preference of the two is painting because I hate it when wallpaper buckles or peels.

Because if you get sick of it, it is a hell of a lot easier to paint over existing color than taking wallpaper down!!! That is such an awful task!

Re: Bathrooms-Wallpaper or Paint
I know someone mentioned this but...FI and I looked at a house that the border, especially above the shower was bubbling due the the steam.... however my parents bathroom has had wallpaper in it for all my 25 years and it is still sticking strong!! But my suggestion would be paint!
I voted paint...but I wish there was one for both...
but I would go paint first b/c as stacey said...easier to take down...
we have both though..but the wallpaper is bamboo like...so its not so much paper as it is fibers....

I cant stand wallpaper. I would love to redo my parents kitchen, but I wont go near it because the walls are covered with this ugly wallpaper.

Yeah, I'm not sure what we're going to end up doing. We have wallpaper up now (its horrible) and I thought if you have wallpaper its better to put wallpaper back up rather than painting, but I also prefer paint. Has anyone ever painted where there used to be wallpaper? What am I getting myself into?

I will never use wall paper again!!! It is such a pain in the you know what to get the paper off if you want to change it. Paint is definately easier to deal with when you want a change.

Re: Bathrooms-Wallpaper or Paint
Im NOT a big fan of wallpaper, especially in a bathroom. Just use paint with a semi-glossy finish. You can put a border up. That is what I have in my big bathroom. It matches my accessories

I vote for paint. And if you do use paint, be sure it is a mildew proof one made for high moisture areas.....

I vote for paint. You can always add a wallpaper border if you want. But it is a lot harder to change wallpaper when you are sick of it.

Re: Bathrooms-Wallpaper or Paint
We choose tp paint -- when we moved in the bathroom was wallpapered -- and due to the steam -- it was peeling in a lot of places. It took my DH like two days to scrape it all of so he could paint-- and it was on so long -- the glue damaged the walls. I am using paint in the whole house-- Ill never wallpaper!! LOL

If you are going to take down the existing wallpaper, I would get a steamer...It is much easier than scraping it off. Sort of like the one they use on Trading Spaces. Im not sure, but I think you may be able to rent them from Home Depot or lowes.
