I am getting married at the Pavillion at The Snapper Inn in June. We are thinking of taking our pics at the Bayard Cutting Arboretum or Connetquot State Park. Does anyone know about either of these ocations? We don't want to have to walk all over in dresses and shoes. Thanks!

Re: Bayard Cutting Arboretum
All I know is Connetquot. It was an old English estate but it really doesn't have many flowers... mostly wooded with good hiking trails. The main manor house is now a Queens College annex (a bit run down) and a lot of the grounds are used up for an equestrian center. Also, there is A LOT of geese poop... EVERYWHERE.... the man who built it is actually responsible for bringing Canadian geese to LI... Thanks... but he did start Marshall Field's dept stores...lol. IMHO, I think some of the other parks are nicer for wedding pictures. It's a great park to walk (3 mile loop) or visit the animal sanctuary (they have two injured and beautiful bald eagles) but I wouldn't say for wedding pictures. I you want pictures of greenery ok but not many flowers.

Re: Bayard Cutting Arboretum
My FSIL got married at the Snapper Inn last September and she took her pics at the Bayard arboretum. I wasn't there for the pictures but I saw her album and the pictures are beautiful. I also wanted to say the Snapper Inn isn't that much of a popular place on this site, I never saw someone who is got married there... but my FSILs wedding was AWESOME!!! I don't know why more people don't get married there!

Re: Bayard Cutting Arboretum
we just took our engagement pictures at bayard cutting arboretum and the grounds were stunning. there were so many different picture spots- on a lake, a field, amongst trees, paths- it was amazing. i highly suggest it- and they dont charge for the photo session- just $6 a car load- not bad
We have been to the Bayard Cutting Arboretum a few times and it is gorgeous! (Just beware of goose 'presents!')

Thank you everyone! Julz what did you think of the food. We haven't even tried it yet. I heard from someone else it was good though. I think a lot of people don't go there becaue it's basically out of doors. We got a lot of crap about that from our Moms. I guess we will go with Bayard. Thanks ladies

The food was great! They had a buffet which I am usually not a fan of but the food was yummy. They also had an ice cream sundae bar. I love the fact that it is outdoors.. but you are still covered on top just in case it rains. The cocktail hour was beautiful outside. Do you want to see some pictures? I'll scan them if you want (that was before I got my digital camera).

Here are some pics from the Snapper Inn... These show the water.
Beautiful Sunset from the inside And some of the Bride and Groom... you can't really see out because it was too dark but their backs are facing the water.
Julz, thank you so much. I keep leaving the computer and coming back to see great stuff. Thanks for the pics. I am so excited and I'm pretty crafty so I am going to hang lanterns in the tree outside and do luminaries. I love that place and more people should definitely check it out. They also negotiate if you work with them.
