Bayshore?

How is this area? I know there are 2 school districts in Bay Shore, Bayshore and Brentwood.
Any info? TIA

It's not the best. There are pockets of good areas, mostly south of Montauk, and Brightwaters is a very affluent area, but surrounded by not so good areas. Both schools districts not the best, but Brentwood I would say is worse. I almost got mugged twice at ATMs in Bay Shore on Main Street so I try to keep my distance from that area.

Yeah, the area gets worse north of sunrise, where this is. Good luck...There are some affordable co-ops in Islip, which is a nicer area.

I think in every town there are bad areas. I grew up
in Bay Shore and have never once had a problem.
My parents still live there and the neighborhood they
live in is still nice and very safe. Hope this helps

I loveeeee the brightwaters area!!
Bayshore has some WONDERFUL area's though, you need to drive there a few times and see exactly where the house is.
Try to find out exactly wehre it is.

A few bonuses
It's part of the Town of Islip, which is awesome.
You are right at the ferries that take you to Fire Island

Bay Shore / Brentwood is one of those areas that get knee-jerk negative reactions out of people. That's not to say there aren't 'bad' parts .. but there truly are some nice areas.

And maybe Bay Shore schools and Brentwood schools are not the Harvard of pre-college education .. but here too .. I think the schools are better than they get credit for. I know plenty of very smart people who either went through Bay Shore and Brentwood.

As already mentioned .. check out the neighborhoods .. go for a drive around the local streets .. try to get a 'feel' for the area .. talk with the school districts and see if you can get a tour.

Definitely check out the house (if you haven't already) .. then take if from there.

there are definately good parts of bayshore but they are usually really expensive...The rest isn't good (THUMBS DOWN) imo

I DO NOT like any part of brentwood....I say stay away from that area

i lived in bayshore for 26 years, until we recently moved after getting married last week.

Anyways-my 2 daughters go to school there and I havent had any problems at all-Every town on LI has it good and bad areas. No town is perfect.

I live in Bay Shore and have for all my life. (the Bay Shore in the Brentwood School District). It seems to be getting worse than when I grew up. True....there are good parts to every town. I now intern in the Bay Shore SD and I have to say it is a bit better than Brentwood.

Def look at the house and the neighborhood. FM me the street name and area and I could perhaps give you some more info if I can.
