BBB & Macy's registries

BBB & Macy's registries

I had registered @ these two places for my e-party in september, and a lot of people ending up using them for xmas gifts. so i've come to find out that (1) BBB sold my brother broken china, (2) several friends spent almost an hour combing macy's for ONE in-stock item from the registry, (3) macy's took 6 weeks to send my mom the wrong china and told her she would have to wait another 6 weeks for the right stuff, (4) BBB neglected to take 3 separate items (diff shoppers) off the registry when they were purchased, (5) macy's did the same thing, (6) i have to go back and deal with returns/exchanges. My wedding is a long way off, so i'm starting to consider diff stores.

opinions on macy's and BBB? recommended stores?

Crate & Barrel has a bridal registry, and their stuff is different than the typical BBB and linens n things, and I personally love linens n things over BBB, they have more items and much more stock and they take BBB coupons!

BBB - is great if the store itself is great that your shopping from our purchasing online. I found that many items I registered online was not carried in the stores which was stupid. Babylon was the store we used and most people said they loved BBB because of the coupons.

Macys was the messiest registry of all. People had to know to print out the list and bring it up to be scanned in. (some had home printed out copies that didn' t work at the register) when you returned it you got store credit which many employees didn't know how to handle. I still have stuff on there nad love macys but it had its issues. The best macys I heard to register from are the ones in the 'richer' malls such as manhasset and garden city areas.

I was thinking of registering at linen's N' Things (because I heard they are great w/exchanges and take BBB coupons). I was also thinking of Khol's and Macy's.

Has anyone else had a bad experience w/macy's? If so, maybe I shouldnt register there!

BBB was great for us. We also registered at Fortunoff.

Yes, Fortunoff is supposed to be wonderful also. I never stop there because there are no stores close to me. But I hear they have great stuff!

I am registered and Crate and Barrell and we got a ton of things for Christmas - everyone said it was a breeze whether they shopped in the store or online.

I am registered at Macy's and BBB also but nothing was purchased from either I'm starting to see why

This is going to happen in any store unfortunately.

crate and barrel is great but DO NOT register there from now...crate and barrel has alot of things that are around for just 1 season so alot of things on your registry WILL get discontinued...i registered this past oct at C&B and already quite a few things are getting discontinued on January 2nd so we have to wait until next week to update it with new things now...so i would definitely wait until just a few short months before your shower, try within the same season...you can do it now but just keep in mind that if you do you will have to change most of your registrt every season until your wedding

I registered at BBB, Fortunoff and Crate and Barrel.

As a PP stated, Crate and Barrel has a lot of seasonal items. I found though that if something was discontinued, it was replaced by a similar item (usually a color change). I was happy overall with the registry.

I received duplicates from all of the places I registered - it happens.

I was happy with Fortunoff and BBB. I returned my duplicates and got other things I had registered for that I didn't get (and some cash from BBB).

BBB is good because of their great return policy, the coupons, and the fact that they are located everywhere and have a great selection.

Fortunoff is good but, it's not as accesible for people. I would recommend them as well.

We registered at BBB and I have to say those things all kind of make the process anoying, but they do allow you to bring items back and give you the cash or the option to exchange them out for other items that werent purchased. I also registered at target but found that target was hard to deal with.

glad to hear...most of the stuff on our registry is still on at C&B but still a decent amount is getting discontinued on jan 2nd. Most of the discontinued stuff i am fine with not getting but there was this whole plate set and everything it came with that we both LOVED. We went to C&B to buy them but they sold out at that store, so now we're gonna wait until next week to see the new things they are getting...i hope we can get the same type of style, i guess just different color or design.

Re: BBB & Macy's registries

my sister used macys and had a bad experince. But she had a great one with BBB.

Im using Bloomingdales and they are owned by the same company as Macys but I havn't had any problems so I don't really understand that.

Maybe add another place like pottery barn or crate and barrel or somewhere like that to give guests another option of somewhere to buy things.

BBB has one of the best return policies in the retail world.
If you got doubles from there, take them back, you can get cash or exchange them no problem.

Duplicates happen. Most people swear that had it removed so they don't look bad, but a lot of times people forget to have them scan the registry.
There is human error in every store, and technical glitches as well...

BBB has been great when I've been buying off of someone else's registry as well. Their staff is very helpful, and they check to see if their item is in stock, and will take you to it. if it's not in the store, they order it online for you, and do not charge you shipping.

I can tell you that BBB has the best return/exchange policy out of all the registry places....if something is missing something, damaged, broken or just not your style/ not nice in person, they take it back for you no problem. Don't worry if it doesn't come off of your registry and people buy it twice or heck ten times....you can exchange the doubles or what-not.....they are great! I've heard horror stories about Fortunoff and not the greatest of stuff about Macy's either.

I'm registered at bbb and Macys. I love BBB but Macys is a bit annoying. I plan to register at Pampered Chef also!
