I am supposed to stop taking the pill after this pack, but I figured out that I will have Aunt Flo for our one year anniversary. If instead of taking the last week of pills (the inactive ones) I start a new pil pack for just that first week, I will skip my period, right? After our anniversary I will stop taking the pill. I know it may screw up my cycle for a month or so, but I really don't want to have my period for my anniversary.

Re: BC question
My doctor told me to continue to take the same color pills (same potency or something). Anyway, I'd continue to finish out at least the color because it may have some unpleasant ramifications otherwise.

Re: BC question
I tried this once and it just made my period go on for 2 weeks instead of one. It's a myth.....or depends on the person and type of pill. I am on ortho tri cyclin low..

My pharmacist told me that was fine to skip the placebo and go right to your next month of 'real pills' to skip your period. I am on Orthocyclen. I think it will be fine to do, just don't make a habit out of it.

Re: BC question
I have no plans of making a habit out of it, because after I get through my anniversary I'm going off the pill for good.

Re: BC question
I did this to move my period so I wouldn't have it for the wedding. My Dr. had me do it months in advance and I'm glad she did. I spotted at all different times that first month of 'adjusting' my cycle.

Re: BC question
It depends what kind of pills you take, if you take monophasic pills you just start the next pack and you shouldnt get your period. If you take triphasic pills like ortho tri cyclen, then you must get an extra pack of pills and take just the LAST week of the spare pack in order to not get your period, and then throw away the rest of that pack and get your period the following week. Some people can start the next pack of ortho tri cyclen right away and still skip thier period, but others will still bleed.
