BC question...

As many of you already know I went to planned parenthood got some pills Blah blah blah lol..I plan on starting them the first sun. after my next period..heres my question..

When I went to planned parenthood (april 3rd a tues)..the nurse particioner(sp) said to start that day..I just have to punch out SUN AND MON and start on the TUES pill...HOWEVER I was reading online and it said there are 3 ways to start the pill
1- Sunday start (the sun. following ur period)
2-'Day 1 start' Take the first active white pill of the first pack within 24 hours of starting your period.
3- Day 5 start..when you take it the last day of ur period (or something like that)...also in the pill insert it only mentions the Sunday start method..

but the nurse praticioner mentioned none of these methods...her method was to start whatever day I got the pill..and go from there...
so whos correct?? The internet and package insert? Or the nurse practicioner(sp)? Or both??

i always did the sunday start
ex. if i got my period today 4/12. id start the pill on sunday 4/15

yea same here! I never heard of that! I always started the 1st Sun after my period!

Hmm..I wonder why she said that then..

You can't start the pill right away, it will not work, most pills keep you from ovulating so if you are in the middle of your cycle and you are about to ovulate, currently ovulating or have already ovulated then the hormoes won't work properly and you can still get pregnant. I sugest you wait unti you get your period again and then start the pill the Sunday after you got your period. It's better to be safe then sorry and you don't want to totally confuse your body with the hormones.

Yep. thats what I thought...its a good thing I searched the net and read the package insert....yknow sometimes it scares me that 'professionals' dont know what they are talking about...it worries me because god forbid I shouldnt get BC..and she prescribes it and something happens to me... (I know its a strech) but if she doesnt even know when your suppose to start BC...what else DOESNT she know..grr..I am going to apply for insurance with them next week...so when I am accepted I will be going to a real Dr. for Paps and BC

SUNDAY START !!! After your period- no matter what- even if you get it Sat night-

it all works out- but this way is GREAT - NO WEEKENDS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can start on Tues....it's perfectly fine! I remember LONG AGO...when I was on BC..and the Patch, I started my new cycle sometimes on Wed. or Fri. (There were times I didn't have pills, so I had to start a new pack on the day I got them)
But then again, it's been over 2 years...so my memory fades....

and Im assuming you never got pregnant..Im just curious to know if there is any logic to that method....

NO kids here....I just didn't want to use BC anymore, so we stopped using BC. One reason, we didn't want any mix ups w/ the BC and end up pregnant w/o marriage and secondly, BC wasn't helping me, I was still feeling dizzy, headaches, lower back pains and still had heavy mensis...now we only use one form of BC....bad breath...LOL...Just kidding. I have a thing about odors, can't be around them, can't stand them!!!!!..
I guess we've been lucky, also it won't be that easy for me to get pregnant because of a medical condition I have, but I'm sure after the wedding my luck will change.

If it was then you coudl have started on the Tuesday by taking 2 pills on Tuesday and 2 pills on Wednesday to fully catch up on the pack. that is what i did when i started the pill, my appt had been on the tuesday following the first sunday after my period.

If that wasn't the case then i have no clue what the NP was talking about.

My last period was March 27th..so the following sunday would be April 1st..but my appt was April 3rd...
