So, working for a catholic school I AM NOT COVERED for the pill and the doctor just informed me that for the pill he gave me... HE HAS NO SAMPLES...
Talk about going to the pore house.... I was just told by the pharmacy it could be 75 per month...
Anyone use an online pharmacy or costco? Are they cheaper?

oye what are you on? can you ask them to change the sript to a generic Mine is 45 a month...but I was paying 15 a month so its still a big jump!

Well I was unisured for awhile and I was told to use costco b/c it was cheaper. I never ended up doing it and I think I got birth control through planned parenthood for cheap... that was like 8 years ago though.

it may sound ghetto but my dad was out of work for a while and lost his insurance and both my parents have high blood pressure and they were getting their prescriptions from walmart......they were much cheaper than just regular CVS

Can't you get your gyno to say that you need it for cysts or something? That way its not for 'birth control' but to help prevent an illness.

are you willing to use a generic brand? I use a generic brand for orthotricyclin called trinessa. Maybe that will help with the price.

I think that's with coverage though. My coverage doesnt allow for any type of birth control even if it's for medical purposes (which is what I have it for!!)
I got very upset when I found it out and the nun at my school said 'Well, if god didnt want you to have children then its not meant to be' And i said 'Well then why are we allowed chemo? If god wanted us to be sick then who are we to say we want to live?'
I coulnd't believe it. Even witht he doctor CALLIGN my insurance to explain the seriousness it didnt make a difference.

His office has no samples. Something happened where he works for a 'Group' (I'm just repeating what he told me) and they get a 'kickback' for every perscription filled. And the head of the office cleared all perscriptions for the kickbacks. That being said, he is looking to leave the 'practice'

If you can get a generic or are ok with using another less expensive brand you should switch. Without my insurance my generic prescription would run about $30/mo.

if not- maybe you can switch. I've been taking Yasmin for years and it was about $15 a month per pack... then I was getting them 3 months at a time so it was about $40..... well they just made a generic brand and now I'm getting 3 months supply for $10! granted that is with coverage but it still should be much cheaper.

I needed medicated face wash that wasn't covered. It would have cost me $65-70, Walmart = $4!

drugstore.com has it for $58 and if you have the doctor write the RX for 6 months worth of pills at a time it saves you more money in the long run.

Target was really cheap as well for BC.
But Planned Parenthood is SOOO Affordable for BC, it only costs I believe $15 per pack.....try it out...

I just had this same problem. I was prescribed a pill for migraines and a medicated face wash and neither were covered under my insurance. One was $400 and one was $200. I am going back to my doctor to try and get a cheaper alternative or something that is covered.
As for the birth control, is there a planned parenthood in your area? They usually give out birth control for free or at a very low cost. I remember paying like $5 for it in college.
