BCP: Who is on Loestrin and what are your opinions?

BCP: Who is on Loestrin and what are your opinions?

I am still on Yasmin and one of my friends who was on it too said she recently switched due to the heath risks and her doc put her on Loestrin.

I just wanted to know what you ladies thought before I start asking my doc about it.

no no no!

i just stopped loestrin..i had a lot of mood swings on it and decreased libido

2 of my gfs had the same problem

and i believe a few other girls on here said the same thing in an older post

the good things about loestrin are: super short and light period, no weight gain, no acne

i just switched to low ogestrol- its only been a month so cant say much about it yet

The plus side is that my period got A LOT shorter and lighter on it but the downside is that it makes me very cranky. There was another thread on Loestrin and a lot of girls were saying the same thing. I'll see if i can find it and bump it.

I agree with everything except the weight gain...i gained weight and was a maniac on it...I didnt even make it one full month!

I switched from Yaz from Loestrin about 3 months ago for the same reason.

I like it a lot! The first 3 months my boobs were really sore all the time. it has subsided though and only hurts around that TOTM.... which for me is normal. I didn't gain weight. I didn't loose any either.

I did find a bit of an increased appetite in the beginning I just kept in check by reminding myself it was the pill and not me.

honestly, i dont like it at all...

i have been on ortho tri cyclen forever, but i havent had insurance over a yr now so when i went she changed it due to financial reasons... i went with it bc i felt it was my best option but i like never get a period!!! my gyn made it seem like this was a plus '... oh its soo light that you wont even know you have it..' i was super hesitant but went with it and regret it!!

its not that im 'worried' that i dont get it, (i know for a fact im not prego!! LOL) its just natural to me and i was NEVER inconsistent and now i am! i cant stand it and cant WAIT to switch back after wedding! this of course this is just my experience!

I was never on any other bcps but I was on Loestrin and I had a really positive response to it. No mood swings, really really ridiculously light periods. I was on it for about three years and now I've come off of it (in January) and I'm almost back to my regular cycle.

i had weight gain, hardcore mood swings and decreased libido as well.

i just switched to nuva ring!

Ive been on Yasmin for probably the past 5 years. i asked my gyno about the associated health risks and he said not to worry about then unless: (1) you smoke, but that's all BC; (2) more importantly, you take NSAIDS (like advil, etc) on a regular basis.

For example, if you were a gymnast and took advil every day for your joints and muscles pains or had a job with lots of heavy lifting that you need to take advil to subside all the aches, then you should NOT take yasmin and take something else. if you just take an advil once in a while, those aren't the 'health concerns' people are reporting.

He said Yasmin is still one of the best out there, esp for acne. So if you have different health problems than your friends that switched, you might be okay. Check with your gyno since im not a professional but im still on it and not planning to switch right now.

HTH. jsut something else to think about.

I've been on it for 2 months and the only side effect I've had is …y boobs are sore. But other than that I really like it.

my doctor switched me from yaz to loestrin24 and i couldn't stand it! now she switched me to loestrin but i'm only on my 1st week of the 1st pack so i can't really say how this one is yet

I was taking loestrin and i had to take it at night because the migranes were soo bad i was getting depressed. I could not do anything the pain was so intense. Im waiting for this last pack to finish and im starting orthrotricyclen lo again.

I like Loestrin...now

AT first I hated it, it gave me severe nausea and caused me to break out. But that all stopped.

My period is so light and short it's fantastic

i was switched to loestrin 24 fe (there are a few diff kinds) and i didnt mind it but i skipped my period alot and when i did get it, it was for like a day

i have been on it for 3 months and i love it. i have been on 5 different types of pills and this one has given me no problems (no mood swings, spotting or soreness). on this pill i don't even get my period.
